亚太旅游协会（PATA）日前发布的初步数据显示，2011年第一季度，亚太地区1国际入境游客接待量同比增长5%。受3月11日突发强震和海啸的冲击，日本的入境游客接待量急剧下滑，加之中东和北非地区入境旅游萎缩，3月间亚太地区入境接待总量的增长受到抑制（同比增长率为3%）。
3月间，南亚地区的入境游客人数同比增长10%，第一季度增长13%。印度次大陆的主要目的地，如印度、马尔代夫、尼泊尔、斯里兰卡等，均呈现双位数增长。
东南亚地区3月的入境旅游增长10%，一季度的接待总量亦增长10%。该次区域下辖的多数目的地表现强劲，缅甸（30%）、柬埔寨（18%）和泰国（14%）尤为突出。
受3月低增长率（1%）的拖累，一季度东北亚地区的入境旅游增幅持续回落，仅为3%。地震和次生灾害令日本及其周边目的地（包括中国大陆、香港特别行政区、澳门特别行政区和韩国）的出入境客流量遭受重挫，中国大陆、香港特区、澳门特区和韩国接待的日本游客数量也因此骤减。
尽管受3月入境旅游下滑3%的影响，太平洋地区一季度的入境游客总量依然增长3%。其中，主要目的地澳大利亚与去年持平，新西兰则有所下降。而基里巴斯、帕劳、夏威夷、新喀里多尼亚的入境旅游增长则在一定程度上抵消了上述情况对整个次区域造成的影响。
PATA代理首席执行官高德伟（Bill Calderwood）指出：“继2008-09年从经济衰退中强势复苏后，亚太地区的旅行与旅游业在今年第一季度再次遭遇多重挑战。具体包括国际油价攀升、中东和北非地区政治动荡、日本、澳大利亚和新西兰的自然灾害等等。”
PATA认为，在上述背景下，亚太地区的入境旅游能够取得5%的增长主要归功于中国大陆、韩国和印度等主要客源市场，以及东南亚次区域内强劲客流的带动。远程客源市场的表现同样可圈可点，2011年第一季度欧洲入境游客人数同比增加6%。但值得注意的是，主要欧洲客源市场的情况存在较大差异，如俄罗斯（+25%）、法国（+9%）、英国（-5%）和德国（-1%）。美洲入境游客整体增长约7%。其中，美国的入境游客增长五个百分点。
高德伟补充说：“地震与海啸侵袭日本东北沿海地区后两月有余，局势似乎正渐渐恢复常态。令人欣慰的是，许多国家已经放宽了对公民赴日旅游的限制。事实上，日本大部地区并未遭受到灾难造成的物理影响。”
1亚太地区包括以下次区域：
东北亚包括中国大陆、中国台湾、香港特别行政区、澳门特别行政区、日本、韩国以及蒙古
东南亚地区包括柬埔寨、印度尼西亚、老挝、马来西亚、缅甸、菲律宾、新加坡、泰国以及越南
南亚包括不丹、印度、马尔代夫、尼泊尔、巴基斯坦以及斯里兰卡
太平洋地区包括澳大利亚、库克群岛、斐济、基里巴斯、马绍尔群岛、新喀里多尼亚、新西兰、纽埃、北马里亚纳、帕劳、巴布亚新几内亚、萨摩亚、大溪地、汤加、图瓦卢以及瓦努阿图。
上述数据为初步结果，缺失数据采用预估值。除非另行注明，上述增长率及增幅均为年度同比数据。
