日前，亚太旅游协会（PATA）与欧洲旅行商协会（ETOA）签订了一项合作备忘录，旨在加强双方在联合调研、信息与情报共享、政府关系以及政策制定等多领域的合作。
PATA代理首席执行官高德伟（Bill Calderwood）和ETOA执行主任汤姆·詹金斯（Tom Jenkins）代表两个组织签订了备忘录，文件已于7月6日正式生效。根据备忘录，PATA和ETOA将在分享数据和研究成果，以及调研方面给予互惠和便利，也将加强与政府机构间的沟通，为会员争取更多利益。
高德伟表示：“PATA和ETOA即将针对共同目标开展合作。我们正积极探寻解决之道，为亚太地区与欧洲之间的旅游双向交流和发展扫清障碍。”
两位负责人指出，PATA和ETOA结成的战略同盟，代表了来自全球最重要的旅游客源地和目的地的跨国集团、目的地管理机构、大中型企业等组织和机构的最广泛的利益。
詹金斯表示：“亚太地区在欧洲经济复苏进程中饰演着重要的战略伙伴角色。众所周知，旅行与旅游业是一个相对脆弱的产业。游客环游世界、寻珍探奇的兴致极易受挫；签证申领和旅游税费令人却步；公众对健康和安全的忧虑不断升级。针对游客的旅行需求和关切，旅游业者要及时反应，积极应对。能够与PATA并肩携手，为共同的目标而努力，我们感到欣喜和荣幸。”
