亚太旅游协会（PATA）成立60周年庆典暨年会活动即将在中国北京隆重开幕的消息，引起世界旅游界广泛关注。日前，世界旅游业理事会（WTTC）总裁兼首席执行官大卫·斯克斯尔（David Scowsill）致贺PATA，预祝庆典活动取得圆满成功。 斯克斯尔表示：“自1951年在夏威夷成立以来，PATA一直致力于推动亚太地区的旅游发展。通过60年来的不懈努力，亚太地区旅游迅速崛起，改变了世界旅游格局——而今，亚太地区不仅仅是一个目的地区域，也已成为高速发展中的客源地，为全球的主要目的地持续输送游客。” 从承运商、酒店、旅行商到官方机构，上至跨国集团，下到中小企业，PATA会员遍布旅游产业链的各个环节。斯克斯尔认为，PATA已经成为政府机构与企业高效沟通与成功合作的典范。 “政企合作的成功实践令PATA成为旅游业界的权威机构，同时帮助其代表的旅游业获得更大的影响力”，斯克斯尔补充道。
他认为，拥有“金砖四国”之二和“新钻十一国”过半数的亚太地区有望引领未来的旅游业发展。 “WTTC预测，未来十年间，全球旅游经济的预期年增长率可达4.3%。以此为契机，我期待PATA和WTTC两大国际组织开展更为密切的合作。” 斯科斯尔将会同世界旅游业的领袖精英，出席4月9-12日于北京中国大饭店举行的PATA成立60周年庆典暨年会活动，并代表WTTC致辞。 以“共筑旅游：过去、现在、未来”为主题，庆典暨年会将成为纵贯全年系列庆祝活动的高潮。 始自1951年几位业内专家的戮力同行，PATA现已发展成为一个生机勃发、极具影响力的国际组织，持续推动亚太地区的尽责旅游发展。 六十载光阴荏苒，PATA引领亚太地区从无到有，跃升为全球发展最快、最炙手可热的旅游目的地。PATA预测，到2020年，亚太地区的国际入境游客接待人数将达到5亿3000万人次。 PATA成立60周年庆典暨年会既是旅游业界的盛事，也是万千业者的节日。
