日前，亚太旅游协会（PATA）隆重宣布，由菲律宾旅游部和旅游促进局主办，2012PATA旅游交易会（PTM2012）将于菲律宾首都马尼拉举行。具体日期将于近期确定后对外公布。 竞标申办过程中，马尼拉凭借自身优势从多个候选城市中脱颖而出，一举赢得了PATA交易会的主办权。1978年，马尼拉成功举办了首届PATA旅游交易会，吸引到300余名代表出席活动，亲身体验亚太地区首个旅游专业展会。而今，PATA旅游交易会已经发展壮大成为本地区最具专业水准的旅行签约与交流展，与会代表上千人。
历史上，菲律宾还曾主办过PATA的其他多项重要活动，其中包括第29届PATA年会暨研讨会（1980年）、PATA理事会会议（1989年）、第47届PATA年会（1998年），以及PATA世界分会大会和理事会会议（2002年）。 PATA首席执行官格雷格·达菲尔评价说：“PATA标志性展会能够重返菲律宾首府，我感到非常高兴。菲律宾旅游部和旅游促进局对主办此次交易会给予了大力支持。我深信，通过举办PATA交易会，菲律宾将充分展示其主办重大国际展会活动的能力，并再现其作为亚太地区旅游目的地枢纽的典范作用。” 菲律宾旅游部部长Alberto A Lim在获悉这一喜讯时表示：“我非常荣幸地宣布，菲律宾已从激烈的竞争中胜出，成为2012PATA旅游交易会的东道主。
PATA执行理事会选择马尼拉作为此次盛会的举办地，体现了亚太地区对菲律宾商务接待和会展活动组织的十足信心。对我们而言，即将到来的PTM2012无疑将成为再次展示菲律宾的绮丽风光、好客民风、高品质旅游设施，以及独特人文魅力的绝佳舞台。菲律宾的旅游管理机构和业界将齐心协力做好PTM2012的组织筹备工作，为菲律宾，乃至整个亚太地区的旅游发展做出更大的贡献。” PATA交易会拟于马尼拉SMX会议中心召开。该中心地理位置优越，毗邻多家酒店和市政交通枢纽，是菲律宾最大的民营会议场馆和会奖旅游业的旗舰设施之一。
